DTN Weekly DDG Price Steady on Average
DTN's weekly average spot price for domestic distillers dried grains is
unchanged versus one week ago.

MINNEAPOLIS (DTN) -- The DTN spot price for domestic distillers dried grains
(DDG) from 33 locations reporting for the week ended Jan.8 was $164 per ton on
average, unchanged versus one week ago.
DDG prices were mixed but steady on average again for the week, with the
cash corn price higher and soybean meal prices down $4.20 versus one week ago.
As for cash corn, the DTN National Average Corn Index was up 8 cents versus one
week ago.
Based on the average of prices collected by DTN, the value of DDG relative
to corn for the week ended Jan. 8 was 1.03%. The value of DDG relative to
soybean meal was 54.02% and the cost per unit of protein for DDG was $6.07
compared to the cost per unit of protein for soybean meal at $6.39.
U.S. Grains Council, in its weekly distillers dried grains with solubles
(DDGS) export market prices report, showed January prices as of Jan.8 (vs last
quoted on Dec. 18): CIF NOLA barge price was down $13 at $212 metric ton (mt);
FOB vessel Gulf price was up $8 at $242 mt; rail delivered PNW was down $16 at
$259; and rail delivered to California was down $19 at $254 mt.
Ethanol production in the United States averaged 1.098 million barrels per
day (bpd) in the week ended Jan. 2, down 22,000 bpd versus last week and 4,000
bpd, or 0.4% lower than in the same week last year, the Energy Information
Administration reported on Wednesday. Four-week average output at 1.111 million
bpd was 5,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year. Midwest ethanol
production averaged 1.041 million bpd, down 22,000 bpd versus last week and
2,000 bpd, or 0.2% lower than in the same week last year. Four-week average
output at 1.055 million bpd was 8,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year.
